RICHARD W. ROSENTHAL
Executive Managing Director
Richard W. Rosenthal serves as the Executive Managing Director at Helmsley Spear. Mr. Rosenthal focuses primarily on strategic real estate planning and implementation, transaction structuring, tenant and landlord representation, lease negotiation and property sales. Prior to joining Helmsley Spear, Mr. Rosenthal served as the Executive Managing Director and Principal for Lee & Associates in New York City with its office brokerage division.
Mr. Rosenthal started his career as a licensed real estate broker over thirty years ago at Wm. A. White & Sons which evolved into Grubb & Ellis. During that time Mr. Rosenthal had the distinction of having twice been selected as the recipient of the Real Estate Board of New York’s coveted Most Ingenious Deal of the Year award. Mr. Rosenthal earned his first award for the assemblage of properties, and the planning and the structuring of a major office lease with National General Corp. which culminated in the construction, by joint venture, of a 33-story, 478,000 square foot office building at 1500 Broadway. The second award was for a transaction enabling Actors’ Equity Association to maintain its identity and enhance its financial position at 1560 Broadway, a 17-story 213,000 square foot office building now known as the Actors’ Equity Building. The transaction included a ground lease, the creation and sale of a leasehold, and a long-term lease on its office space.
Among the many clients Mr. Rosenthal has represented are: National General Corp., Williams College, News America Publishing, SIAC, HarperCollins Publishers, The Kaplan Thaler Group, Mount Sinai Health System, Medical Imaging of Manhattan, Polo by Ralph Lauren, and MicroTek. Some of the properties Mr. Rosenthal represented as leasing agent are: 460 Park Avenue, 555 Madison Avenue, 750 Seventh Avenue, 666 Fifth Avenue and 1500 Broadway.
Mr. Rosenthal earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart and William Smith College as well as a Juris Doctorate from New York Law School.
